Closing Manchester's Terminal 1

Terminal 1, Manchester Airport
Terminal 1 will be closing at Manchester Airport
After years of building work Terminal 2 is progressing well and Terminal 1 is being vacated and eventually closed. A new area of Terminal 2 opened in late July '25, which I'll hopefully get to see later this year and by then even more flights should have moved over. So, were is the "closing" of Terminal 1 up to?

With the huge presence easyJet holds at Manchester T1 along with Emirates, Etihad Airways and the rest, Terminal 1 will soon be quiet. A new pier with Emirates Lounge is rumoured to be being built in Terminal 2 but it's not clear if Terminal 1 will fully close in 2025, or how long Pier B, once home to Emirates and easyJet, will remain in use. We have flights for Autumn 2025 scheduled to depart from T1 and still using the Terminal 1 Aspire Lounge, although the airport confirms the move, the airline has not yet done so.

The Escape Lounge in Terminal 3 has now closed leaving that with no lounges; the Terminal 1 Escape Lounge remains open for now and we will wait to see what happens - it's possible this part of the airport will be combined with the current 'terminal 3' to create access to plenty of airport lounges.

On top of this Ryanair is affected. From 21st October Ryanair passengers will enter the airport through the current Terminal 1 Departures A entrance and pass through the updated security lanes. From there passengers for Ryanair will pass through Duty Free then into the main terminal, following a route back into Terminal 3 (close to Pier B to use these shops and facilities. This is a permanent change and when Terminal 1 closes this entrance will be renamed Terminal 3 and no mention has been made as to whether passengers can use lounges in Terminal 1, which I suspect will follow - just allow for a long walk, Arrtiving Ryanair passengers will be unaffected.
