And then, there were just the two of us.
After years of finding cash for school tombolas, supplementing student loans, buying cars, and helping our children
onto the property ladder, the tide has finally turned. Suddenly, both our time and our budget are our own.
Turning the Page to a New Chapter
For decades, our calendars were dictated by school holidays and the logistical gymnastics of family life. Now, the
"holiday target" has changed. While we are occasionally honoured to have our children join us (often with a boyfriend
in tow), we are no longer tethered to the school gates.
We have traded the school run for the airport lounge, and we created
Empty Nest Travellers
to document the results.
Our Travel Philosophy: Quality Over Quantity
We aren’t backpackers, but we aren’t billionaires either. We occupy that wonderful middle ground of the "Empty Nest"
lifestyle:
-
The Weekend Escape:
We specialise in finding fun, vibrant weekend breaks that offer a perfect palette cleanser from daily life.
-
The "Every Few Years" Luxury:
We believe in the "Big Trip"—those milestone luxury holidays every two or three years that stay in your memory
forever.
-
The Premium Experience:
If there is an option for a premium flight or an upgraded cabin, we take it. We believe the journey should be as
enjoyable as the destination.
Why Follow Our Journey?
The internet is full of budget travel tips for students or ultra-luxury guides for the elite.
Empty Nest Travellers
is for the rest of us.
We provide honest reviews of premium experiences, destination ideas that don’t require a family-sized suitcase, and
inspiration for parents who are ready to put themselves first. We spent years running around the country as doting
parents; now, we are exploring the world on our own terms.
