One of my favourite, if not the favourite, hidden gems or Prague. Even more unique than the equally fun
Prague Beer Spa, nestled in the heart of the city lies a hidden gem that blends tradition, flavour and romance — the Slivovitz Museum. Why Visit the Prague Slivovitz Museum as a Couple?
The museum (
glee.noise.ember) is a really unique, interactive, experience. For our first visit we did the whole experience - the museum followed by tasting a few shots and some nibbles.
Since then we've skipped the museum and sample different sets of shots, and nibbles.
It's a chance to sit down, have a few lazy warming drinks in an attractive bar and not spending that much!
Whether it's a quick few drinks or a full afternoon cuddled up on the chairs trying several shots is up to you.
What is Slivovitz?
Slivovitz is a traditional Czech plum brandy brewed in the region for centuries. It's drunk as sips from shot glasses alongside a few nibbles. Various flavours are available, with different grades too. The plain is a little sharp to the uninitiated, but the honey one is smooth and instantly enjoyable.
What to Expect at the Prague Slivovitz Museum
The entrance to the museum; the door opens for timed admission slots
Museum - after buying your ticket and wandering down the stairs you are allowed into the first part of the story in small groups at timed intervals.
Watch the video and learn a little about the product, and at regular intervals the doors open and you move into the next room, the next part of the story.
Eventually you don the 3D glasses and experience the journey of a plum from tree to drink.
Bar - as your experience finishes you arrive in the bar where a table is waiting for you with a few samples to try - snacks and drink plus water.
Take as long as you want to enjoy this part and feel free to buy more once you finish. Some of the other tester trays are well worth the experience!
Traditional meals are available and well worth a try.
On the way out pass through the shop and buy a bottle or two to drop into your suitcases for the way home.
Why the Slivovitz Museum is Perfect for Couples
Around the edge of the bar are comfy seats, with bar stools in the middle.
It's an intersting bar that you can visit in the day time, that's quiet, enjoyable and unusual.
A few drinks and nibbles to share and time to discuss a totally differnt experience and relax with a few sgots.

Conclusion: A Sip of Czech Culture for Couples
It's slightly out of the way, although trams & the land train pass the end of the road on the route between old town and castle, but it's worth the trip there.
Spend an hour or more relaxing and enjoying a few drinks and nibbles.
Not sure on the drinks? Just order 1 tray and share each shot and then try more once you are convinced.
