What is Bar Wisnioffka?

This was one of the treasures of our trip to Krakow and something we could so easily have missed, yet would desperately go back again.

In fact, walking around the surrounding roads, having only landed hours previously, on a cold winter's evening we nearly didn't go. That would have been a huge mistake!

What's on the menu?

The menu is more choose your size of drink. Cherry liquor was the main drink with, I think, gooseberry and red currant as alternatives. So basically do you want small, medium or large and off you go? The drinks are presented in very fancy, cut glasses and the cherry, which is the one we opted for, is certainly very drinkable.

We did consider the offer of buying a bottle to take away with us, but the evening was young and we didn't want to carry a bottle. "We'll come back later in the weekend" we told ourselves. That didn't happen so "We'll go back next time". But it was a very enjoyable drink.

It was a small, very friendly place in a quirky bar. A little off putting when we first saw it, tired from a day of flying and in a new destination, but once we walked through the door we were greeted by a smiling host who poured our drinks and found us a quiet table in the window where we could enjoy our new found tipples.

It's a quirky bar with in the back room the tables hanging from the ceiling on chains. We didn't experience these, but we had a cosy seat between the door and the bar.

Closing thoughts...

Just go! Find a spare half hour, maybe an hour, settle down on your chair and enjoy at least a cherry liquor. Like many of the vodkas it's not that strong so don't worry about sipping their and enjoying the atmosphere. Certainly worth the experience.
